Introduction to precision rifle marksmanship

Course Overview

  • Duration: 2 days / 16 hours
  • Instructor to student ratio: Max 1:3
  • Round count: Min 200 rounds

  • Building solid understanding of long range precision rifle concepts
  • Creating an understanding of bullet ballistics and factors that influence it
  • Laying out the basics of long range shooter / spotter communication
  • Understanding the mechanics of their rifle, scope and equipment
  • Rifle zeroing, 100m fundamentals and natural point of aim
  • Getting the student correctly setup and comfortable with their rifle and equipment
  • Building DOPE (Data Obtained from Previous Engagements) for their precision rifle
  • Shooting out to over 1000m

This allows the student to take this knowledge and apply it to any target out to any distance within the capabilities of their precision rifle with confidence.

Students will need the following equipment:

  • A rifle that is capable of 1 MOA precision at 100m (i.e. consistent 3cm groups at 100m)
  • Scope with externally manipulable turrets. First Focal Plane is preferable, with at least 10x magnification.
  • Bipod
  • Rear bag
  • Sling
  • 200 rounds of ammunition
  • Should a student not have a suitable rifle, please contact us prior to the course and suitable equipment can be arranged.

Practical

  • Fundamentals of rifle marksmanship & natural point of aim
  • Establishing and confirming rifle/scope zero at 100m
  • 100m practice drills & self-assessment skills
  • Electronic ballistic application configuration
  • Engaging of targets from 100m to 1100m
  • Shooter spotter communication and holds
  • Data gathering, data confirmation, and scope/reticle manipulation
